Lisa L. Biggs, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Africana Studies/Rites and Reason Theatre at Brown University, an actress, playwright and performance scholar. Her research interests include the role of the arts in movements for social justice, in particular black feminist performance as a practice of healing for incarcerated women. Biggs earned her Ph.D. in Performance Studies at Northwestern University. As a performer, she has appeared in productions at the Kennedy Center, Arena Stage, Lookingglass Theatre, the African Continuum Theatre and many more.
